Couples portraits taken of my sister, Makenna, and her boyfriend, Troy, before Troy left for University in the States. Taken at Whytecliff park in West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
*I am very confident in my Fine art works, but portrait photography is still pretty new to me, so my sister and her boyfriend are nice enough to let me take photos of them to find out a good style for me and a different form of editing skills*
I had the opportunity to help out a friend with a play she directed that ran in October and November 2018. She directed a play for a local theatre group, Theatre West Van. She chose a play that was comical, but also connected with the audience in many ways. The play she opted for was, “The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society presents A Christmas Carol".
In this play, the actors are actors, playing characters in a cheaply funded production. So it’s really a play, within a play. I took headshots of each actor; they are a bit exaggerated as they are meant to be the headshots of the characters. I had a lot of fun photographing this group, they were dynamic and didn’t hold anything back, making for some interesting results.
The first seven photographs are the photos that she chose as her displayed headshots in the lobby of the theatre. The rest after that, were other options I gave her. I wanted to put them up also, as they were just too funny to keep from the public eye.
The remaining photographs I took at their dress rehearsal the night before opening night. I only shot the first half of the play, as I was given tickets to come back and see it.
Overall, I’m very glad to have helped out my friend. I not only got experience, but it was really fun to be in my element.
